In 2009 A.C.E. and GILI formed a partnership to assist the Ministry of Education of Gangwon Province in South Korea with the expansion and development of its English teacher training capabilities in the U.S. and Korea. The first project implemented under the new partnership was the inaugural 8 week teacher training program conducted on the campus of Seattle Pacific University in the summer of 2009. This program featured the internationally recognized A.C.E. Action Research Curriculum and involved 25 trainees.

Gangwon International Language Institute was opened on March 1, 2009. GILI began a new chapter as specialized foreign language training providers in order to quench students' and parents' thirst for foreign language education, and to overcome the current English education setting, highly dependent on Native English Teachers, through retraining of teachers.

In 2009, the first year of GILI, they are expanding the scope of our business into teachers' intensive training, going beyond mere Students English Learning Center. It is expected that teachers who have been trained in TEE/TESOL pedagogies and four month domestic immersion training at GILI, followed by two months of overseas training, will play pivotal roles in solving issues relating to English education including the English Divide between urban and rural communities that Gangwon-do faces.
